Summer Donation Drive

Summer Donation Drive – Support Our Neighbours in Need

This July, the Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre (MPCPC) is launching our Summer Donation Drive, and we’re inviting our community to come together in support of neighbours who need it most. Building on the success of our February “Acts of Kindness” Drive, this summer initiative focuses on collecting essential warm-weather items to help those facing housing insecurity and financial hardship during the hottest months of the year.

Why Summer Essentials?
While winter often receives attention for donation efforts, summer brings its own challenges. Heat exposure, sunburn, dehydration, and limited access to basic hygiene supplies can make daily life especially difficult. That’s why our summer drive is focused on practical, high-priority items that offer protection, comfort, and dignity to community members who are often overlooked during this season.

Donation Dates:
🗓️ July 12-July 18 throughout the community and July 19 at the main event

Drop-Off Locations:
📍 A full list of participating local businesses and drop-off points will be posted soon – including the main event hosted at Kingsgate Mall. Stay tuned!

What We’re Collecting:
We’re prioritizing items that are affordable, easy to carry, and helpful for daily use. Here are some of the most needed:

  • Sunscreen

  • Deodorant (travel or full size)

  • Cooling packs or wipes

  • Electrolyte drink powders or tablets

  • Lip balm with SPF

  • Hand towels and washcloths

  • Hats, sunglasses, breathable t-shirts, and shorts

  • Socks and underwear (new only)

  • Basic hygiene items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo)

  • First aid supplies (band-aids, nail clippers, antiseptic wipes)

Please note: all items must be new and unopened.

How Donations Will Be Used
Items collected through the Summer Donation Drive will be sorted and distributed directly to community members during MPCPC outreach patrols, foot patrols, and engagement initiatives. Our goal is to ensure donations go straight into the hands of those who need them, when they need them.

How Local Businesses Can Get Involved
We're still welcoming local business partners to act as drop-off hosts or promo partners! If you’d like to participate by collecting items at your storefront or helping spread the word, please contact us at 606-717-0684 or email info@mpcpc.ca. Your support makes a real impact.

Help Us Spread the Word
Whether you’re donating, hosting a drop-off point, or just helping raise awareness—every bit counts. Share our drive with friends, coworkers, and neighbours. Let’s work together to make this summer a little easier for everyone in our community.
